Ford to introduce collector's edition of Lincoln Continental By Harold Merton As you read this article the Ford Motor Company will be building a special collectors' edition of the 2002 Lincoln Continental that as Rick Brisson, Continental's brand manager says "builds on the storied tradition of the vehicle, highlighting the Continental's stylish appearance, comfort and luxury."The Continental Collector's Edition includes many special features like a genuine walnut burl steering wheel, instrument panel and side door trim with CE logo, preferred suede seat inserts with milled pebble leather bolsters, 10 spoke chrome wheels, a platinum-painted grille, five passenger seating, a CE logo on the exterior bodyside as well as inscribed on the floor mats and a new Shiva carpet. Probably about 200 of the special units will be made available in Canada this summer. This special edition is offered with the current exterior color palate but customers may also choose charcoal grey, a color never before offered on the Continental. Interior color options include light graphite and medium parchment. The 2002 Continental features a 4.6 litre, double overhead cam, 32 valve V-8 that delivers 275 horsepower at 5,750 rpm and 275 lbs-ft of torque at 4,750 rpm, delivered to the front wheels through a 4 speed automatic overdrive transaxle. List price for this special edition in Canada is $55,610 if you can find one. |
